There is also a quicker return of bowel function, earlier mobilisation and less risk of bowel adhesions in the future. Our operating suite is equipped with the da Vinci four-arm surgical robot. This approach offers added precision and dexterity with certain complex operations such as keyhole prostatectomy for prostate cancer.
This latest technique uses a single keyhole incision deep in the umbilicus. The entire laparoscopic operation is carried out in this single incision with the help of a multi-channel device and articulating instruments. The incision heals without a trace, resulting in a cosmetically appealing scarless outcome.
Traditional open surgery can require several days of hospitalization and recovery time can last several months. While every case is unique, the return to normal, everyday activities (except for lifting heavy objects and strenuous exercise) following robotic-assisted surgery can occur in as little as two to three weeks.
The robotic surgeries are significantly longer than their counterparts.
People recover at different rates, but staying in the hospital only one night is typical. You’ll take medication for pain.
